BPL Global is a pioneer in the field of political risk insurance for investments, assets and property around the world, and we count amongst our clients some of the world’s largest corporate groups.
Our Products: Corporate Investors
Investment Insurance
Political Violence Insurance
Our expertise and experience
Investment Insurance and Political Violence (PV) coverage for large corporates has been available since the beginnings of the credit and political risk insurance (CPRI) market. BPL Global continues to lead the way in developing products which mitigate the full range of political risks facing investors’ foreign equity investments or owned property.
We have extensive experience in arranging coverage for single situation risks as well as structuring insurance programmes for clients on a worldwide basis.
Due to our claims experience in this sector, we have in-depth understanding of the breadth of coverage required by clients, in addition to the associated technical know-how needed for these complex, multi-peril placements.
We deal with over 50 private insurers around the world that specialise in CPRI with an aggregated capacity per risk of approximately US$3 billion and policy period capability of up to 15 years. The private market insurers can be either an alternative to the government and multilateral insurance programmes, or we can combine the two – whichever is best for our clients.
World Leading Expertise
We have unrivalled expertise in providing insurance products for corporate investors, and our claims record is testament to our leading position in the CPRI market.

20% of our business portfolio’s aggregated exposure is attributable to Investment Insurance and PV coverage.
Our products
Our standard Investment Insurance product is aimed at a corporate client’s foreign investments and normally provides coverage for expropriation, political violence, currency inconvertibility and breach of contract.
We also provide bespoke property-based Political Violence and Political Risk Insurance against physical damage and resulting business interruption across the PV spectrum, from riot and terrorism to revolution and war. In addition to this regular cover, we can provide extended ‘war risks’ cover for land-based property, including capture, seizure, confiscation and abandonment – areas usually excluded by a standard PV policy.
Why work with us
We pride ourselves on providing the highest levels of service to corporate investors across the entire insurance placing process, and have some of the most experienced brokers in the CPRI market.
Drawing on our strong technical expertise and access to a wide network of insurers, we are in a position to exploit the competitive dynamics of the insurance market to secure the right coverage at the best price for our clients.
Our products are validated by ensuring that claims are paid in full and on time, and this underpins every aspect of our client servicing to corporate investors. Since BPL Global’s establishment in 1983, we have settled in excess of US$2.8 billion of claims for our clients.
We structure our broking teams, which are each lead by an experienced director, to meet clients’ specific needs.
