Director, Legal
A qualified lawyer, with a background in finance law, Anna joined the BPL Global team in 2019 from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), bringing over eight years of in-house banking experience.
As Legal Director of BPL Global, Anna Morgan works closely with the brokers and claims team – advising on matters of a legal nature across all product lines and client bases.
As an English-qualified lawyer with both in-house banking experience and familiarity with the CPRI market, Anna is a valuable resource for the BPL Global team, and instrumental in its ongoing effort to optimise the CPRI product for clients.
In 2011, Anna joined MUFG’s legal department, supporting its structured finance and corporate lending activities across EMEA. Anna worked alongside the deal teams providing legal advice on a transactional basis, covering structuring and regulatory considerations through to documentation negotiation. Through her involvement on the deal side, Anna worked increasingly closely with the Credit Exposure Solutions team, becoming heavily involved in developing the bank’s understanding and usage of the CPRI product – including helping to establish the bank’s template policy wording and associated internal processes. In 2018, Anna moved across to join MUFG’s Credit Portfolio Management team where she continued working with the product, as well as advising on risk mitigation strategies more generally. Throughout her career, Anna has found the most rewarding aspect of her work in supporting the further education and development of junior members of the team.
Prior to MUFG, Anna worked for over six years at international law firm, Reed Smith (formerly Richards Butler) in its banking and finance department, taking secondments to Barclays Commercial Bank and RBS. During her legal training, Anna also had the opportunity to work in the firm’s Abu Dhabi office.
Anna is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and graduated in Modern European Languages from the University of Durham, including a year at the University of Heidelberg. She speaks French and German.
