Riz Sheikh
Head of Portfolio and Risk Transfer Solutions
Based out of London, Riz joined BPL in 2023, with a specific focus on portfolio solutions and synthetic significant risk transfer (SRT) transactions. He has an extensive background in securitisation, structured finance and SRT, with over 20 years of advisory, structuring and deal execution experience in banking and Debt Capital Markets.
Riz is responsible for developing and embedding SRT expertise within BPL Global in order to then provide structuring and execution services to clients, as well as increasing insurer capacity for this segment of the insurance market.
Most recently with the NatWest Credit Risk Mitigation Distribution team, he was responsible for setting up the SRT platform for the bank, with responsibilities for structuring and distribution of SRT, including placing some of the first unfunded mezzanine SRT risk tranches into the insurance market. In addition, he was responsible for managing CRI single risk distribution.
Before that, he was at Barclays Capital for 14 years in the Securitised Products Origination team, arranging the structuring and distribution of asset backed securities on behalf of financial institutions in the UK, Europe, US, Canada, and the Middle East, helping clients to achieve their funding and regulatory capital objectives.
Riz qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has an Executive MBA from the London Business School.
