Sam joined BPL Global in 2004 and was appointed Director in 2018. He is currently based in London and works predominantly with BPL Global’s French banking clients and commodity traders, with a strong focus on the African market.
Sam started his insurance broking career at BPL Global in 2004, supporting the BPL Paris office on the corporate side of the business – in particular, helping French exporter clients to secure pre- and post-shipment coverage. Since then he has worked across the full range of BPL Global’s client base, having transitioned to working with banking clients at the height of the global financial crisis in 2008. As a result, Sam has extensive experience of helping European-based corporates, banks and commodity traders effectively use the CPRI product, with a strong focus and thorough understanding of the African market.
Sam manages a team of seven brokers, largely focused on French financial institutions. In addition, his team counts one of the world’s largest commodity traders based in Geneva among its client base, as well as one of South Africa’s most important financial institutions. In the case of the latter, Sam played an instrumental role in placing its first 15-year interest rate swap in the market.
A regular on the conference circuit, Sam often represents BPL Global at key industry events both in the UK and overseas, sharing his expertise by giving talks and partaking in panel discussions.
Sam is a graduate of Oxford Brookes University and is fluent in both French and Spanish. He regularly places transactions in both languages.
