Sian Aspinall has over 30 years of experience in the CPRI market, having previously been Senior Vice President, Trade Credit and Political Risk at Zurich Insurance. Having started her career at BPL Global, Sian rejoined in 2014.
As Group CEO, Sian is responsible for defining the strategic direction of the company and its line of specialist products, as well as maintaining its strong client relationships and developing its corporate structure.
Sian is a highly respected insurance market professional and has been a leading figure in the political risk industry for over 30 years, being a regular speaker and panellist at industry conferences. Having initially been at BPL Global for two years from 1992 as a Graduate Trainee, Sian returned in 2014.
Wide-ranging experience as a broker and underwriter
Sian previously provided consultancy services to insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and law firms within the CPRI market, focusing on expert witness work, regular independent peer reviews on insurers’ portfolios, regular audits on individual broker files, policy drafting for insurers on new products, market feasibility studies and other bespoke projects.
This followed a successful underwriting career, initially with AIG and subsequently as Senior Vice President, Trade Credit and Political Risk at Zurich. At Zurich, Sian was responsible for establishing the company in the London market and managing a team of specialist underwriters. She started her career as a political risk broker in 1990 at Hogg Robinson (now AON), and was at BPL Global from 1992 to 1994, during which time she was responsible for broking Swiss trader and French corporate business into Lloyd’s and the Company markets.
Sian is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and a graduate of Kingston Business School.
