Tim Cullis is a Director and BPL’s Chief Financial Officer. Having been appointed to lead the business’ finance function in October 2015, he has since steered BPL’s financial strategy and risk management, while overseeing its unique employee ownership structure.

A key member of the Group Board, Cullis leverages his extensive finance expertise across strategy, reporting and technical processing, as well as treasury and risk management, to oversee BPL’s multi-disciplinary finance team. In addition to his managerial and operational responsibilities, he plays a stewardship role for BPL’s employee share scheme – a vital component of the business’ independence and unique value proposition.

Upon joining BPL close to a decade ago, Cullis worked to augment the accounting function and financial management of the company to fully integrate it into the company’s wider operations. Throughout his tenure, he has navigated BPL through complex disruptions such as Brexit, as well as the accountancy, strategic and operational implications of its rapid growth.

He has extensive finance experience, and previously headed the operations of Amlin plc’s Investment division, before becoming the CFO and CRO of Amlin Investment Management Limited, its internal investment company.

Prior to joining BPL, Cullis led the operations of underwriter Amlin plc’s Investment division, which he joined in May 2011. As head of the function, he was responsible for the management of the £4.5 billion portfolio across finance, risk, compliance, legal and treasury. The success of the Investment division resulted in the forming of an internal subsidiary company – Amlin Investment Management Limited – in 2014, of which Cullis was appointed CFO and CRO.

Before this role, Cullis spent almost six years as Manager of Investment Operations at Fauchier Partners – a leading European funds of hedge funds manager at the time (later acquired by US asset manager Legg Mason).

Cullis was also a Management Accountant at Man Investments, having started his career as a graduate trainee at Ernst & Young. He studied Economics at York University and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA).
