Tony Taylor has been Claims Director since 1999 and is one of BPL Global’s longest-serving professionals. He is widely regarded as the leading claims broker in the CPRI market, helping BPL collect over $US2 billion in claims on behalf of clients over almost 30 years.
In conjunction with the relevant BPL case handler, Tony is responsible for liaising between BPL Global’s clients and underwriters on claims issues; all the way from first advice, to claims collection, to recovery.
Having joined BPL Global in 1988 as a claims broker, he has 28 years’ experience of the claims process and how it is best navigated in order to ensure the successful payment of clients’ claims. As part of this, Tony has a significant network of contacts including the market’s key loss adjustors, lawyers and underwriters.
Successful collection of over US$2 billion of claims
Tony has more experience in claims collection than any other broker in the London market. In 28 years at BPL Global, he has been responsible for helping BPL successfully collect US$2 billion, across around 400 claims, with US$1.7 billion relating to non-payment policies and US$300 million relating to pure political risk.
Tony has overseen BPL Global’s claims division through a number of major events, including the Russian crisis in the late 1990s, brought about by the collapse of the price of oil, and the global financial crisis of 2008, which had a significant impact on policies relating to the Eastern European banking market.
Notably, he has collected two claims of over US$100 million each; one a political violence claim as a consequence of Russian involvement in Ukraine and the other a contract frustration issue involving a South American government.
Prior to BPL Global, Tony specialised in aviation reinsurance.
